Best ever non-slip, wear anywhere water shoe.
Intended Use: Watersports, Traveling, Rock Scrambling
The Astral Brewer 2.0 sneakers look like casual street wear but perform like a hybrid hiking and water shoe thanks to their supportive foam footbed, active tread pattern, and multiple special design elements.
The Brewers have become widely popular with whitewater kayakers, but the shoe is really designed as a general "water shoe" that can be used by any river-goer.
The Brewer is a technical water shoe designed from the perspective of a Class-V whitewater kayaker, but there’s a huge difference in this shoe and every other water shoe or bootie on the market – you won’t look like a clown if you wear this shoe off the water.
Charge, portage, repeat, then head to the pub; the Brewer 2.0 may look like a sneaker, but it performs at another level.
- Super sticky G.15™ Rubber is razor-siped delivering high-surface contact without marking.
- Hydrophobic Canvas upper construction sheds water; Airmesh along the vamp, tongue and medial side vents hot air.
- EVA foam midsole has a medium arch and Balanced Geometry,™ which places the heel and ball at the same level for balance and agility in extreme places.
- Built-in sock liner for barefoot comfort.
- Holes in the front and back of midsole drain water.
The Step Down convertible heel.
No, you are not breaking your shoes when you crush the heel, and wear them like a slipper. This is the intended use.
THE STEP DOWN HEEL IS A USEFUL FEATURE:
The convertible heel is super useful. It was created for putting dry suits on in parking lots and other gravel surfaces. Once you get your feet inside of your suit (and have GORE TEX booties in particular), you can easily slip on the Brewers instead of standing directly on rock and debris. This will extend the life of your dry suit booties.
If you're into any type of water sports, from yachts to gnar, and you are looking for the most versatile, do everything shoe to compliment your awesome outdoor lifestyle then look no further.

All Astral Designs footware have a special relationship with water.
Every component, from the thread to the laces are critically evaluated and chosen for its ability to hold up after constant soaking, to shed water, and to not accumulate funk. Many models have engineered drainage for water to come out while minimizing entry of silt.
Astral shoes tend to fit true to size when worn barefoot or with a thin sock. In general, you may want to consider going up 1/2 size to accommodate dry suit booties or a thick sock. Our shoes are designed to be narrow in the heel and mid foot, with a wide toe box. This allows the shoe to be low profile, but leaves room for your foot to spread out when carrying weight (a kayak).
